A marketing award for our work with the Library of Congress
June/July 2008

Materials for the Law Library of the Library of Congress (designed by Graves Fowler, of course!) won the 2008 Thomson/West Excellence in Marketing award from the American Association of Law Libraries.

Popes and Presidents need branding, too
April 2008

Graves Fowler has just completed two big branding assignments: the Richard M. Nixon Library in San Clemente, California, and Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Washington, DC. The solutions were as different as the men. For President Nixon, the branding reflects the flavor and culture of the 60s. For the Holy Father, more traditional graphics ruled the day.

Three new awards for logo design
March 2008

We’re proud to add three new certificates to our award wall. The Loyola Foundation, American Academy of Optometry and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church—all are winners in American Corporate Identity’s 2008 design annual.

Literacy begins at home
September 2007

Look for a special insert in the September issue of Essence Magazine. “Literacy Begins at Home” is a checklist for parents of toddlers to third graders to make sure the ability to read does not escape them. This publications is the newest component of Graves Fowler’s campaign work with the National Institute for Literacy.

Spotlight on design in a religious context
July 2007

Graphic design supports and enhances the sacred. A beautiful new book, Graphic Design and Religion: A Call for Renewal, has just been published to point out the important role graphic design plays in creating “religious hospitality.” We’re proud to report that work by Graves Fowler Creative is featured prominently in several chapters.

Triple winner at the Art Directors Club gala
June 2007

Estrella Restaurant & Bar walked away with three awards for design excellence at the annual show for the Art Director’s Club of Metropolitan Washington. Graves Fowler has created the branding, mural art and Web site for this proposed urban gathering place in suburban Washington.

Winfrey & Graves & Fowler
May 2007

Graves Fowler designed the Mentoring & Literacy Guide featured on the May 30th “Oprah Winfrey Show.” This Guide is a resource offered by ESSENCE CARES, the new national mentoring movement created to address the needs of African-American youth in crisis. National partners include the National Urban League, 100 Black Men of America, The Links Incorporated, and YWCA USA. This work represents Graves Fowler’s first assignment under a two-year, multi-faceted contract with the National Institute for Literacy.
